The recommended reading list is provided as supplement learning material for those individuals who may be interested in more in-depth study of aerospace medicine, space physiology, aviation human factors, and suborbital commercial spaceflight. The supplemental material is NOT covered in the Spaceflight Fitness Specialist certification examination, as all content for the certification program is included in the Spaceflight Fitness Specialist Candidate Manual to be published in early 2014. In the meantime, the recommended reading list provides Candidates with an opportunity to familiarize themselves with many of the topics covered in the Spaceflight Fitness Specialist certification program.

Jamie Guined, LAUNCH Founder, was recently named Commander of Crew 138 of the Mars Desert Research Station by the Mars Society. Guined, along with five other analog astronauts, will complete a two-week Mars simulation at the analog habitat March 15-29, 2014. Stay tuned for additional updates as Crew 138 begins to undertake preparations and training for their mission.
